What is ApoB (Apolipoprotein B)? Here’s why you should pay attention

If your health is a priority, then keep ApoB, or Apolipoprotein B, in mind. The protein in your body can determine something important: your risk of cardiovascular disease. According to WebMD, this protein “helps carry fat and cholesterol through your body.” Higher levels of ApoB aren’t what you want because of concerns about raising your risk of heart and blood vessel diseases.

You can take a blood test to determine your ApoB levels, with The Washington Post referring to it as “the better cholesterol test you didn’t know you needed.”

In a video posted by FoundMyFitness Clips, physician and author Peter Attia says that the amount of ApoB in your system increases as you get older. Other conditions not including age that can raise your ApoB test results include pregnancy, high cholesterol and a kidney issue, the Cleveland Clinic reports.
