As fitness enthusiasts, we at PUSH Gym make sure to prioritize our work out goals. But here’s a gentle reminder: The gym is just one piece of the puzzle of health.
We can break down the main pillars of health into four categories to manage:
- Eating, which can be divided into micronutrients and macronutrients
- Fitness, which can be divided into cardio, weights, flexibility and balance (proprioception)
- Sleep — an aspect that we usually forget
- Mental health
Analyze your daily and weekly schedule. Ask yourself: How are you making time to eat well, work out, sleep and lift up your mental health? It may sound like a heavy load, but, once you find a routine that works for you, then you’ll start to see results.
For instance, experts say that men need between 7-8 hours of sleep, while women require 8-10 hours. You may notice an improvement in your energy and mood if you allow ample time for sleeping. Another example: Elevating your mental health can mean seeking therapy, journaling, meditating, having in-depth conversations to process feelings and enjoying alone time.
