Client Spotlight: Devin Gilhuly

Rebuilding Strength, Resilience, and Confidence

Some fitness journeys are about progress, others are about persistence. For Devin Gilhuly,  it’s been both.

From rebuilding strength after the demands of medical school to navigating multiple serious injuries, Devin’s path hasn’t followed a straight line. But through it all, one thing has remained constant: his commitment to showing up, and a team at PUSH dedicated to helping him do just that. He started coming to PUSH in 2023, seeking structure, coaching, and a community to help him rebuild strength and prevent injury.

Today, Devin is not only stronger and more resilient, but training for something that once felt out of reach: the Boulder Triathlon. We sat down with Devin for a quick Q&A about what brought him to PUSH and what keeps him coming back.

Tell us about your physical journey before PUSH.

Before PUSH, my fitness was pretty inconsistent. During medical school and postgraduate training, I lost a lot of my strength, endurance, and overall cardiovascular fitness. I was dealing with back pain and just didn’t feel like myself physically. I knew I needed to rebuild—not just to look or perform better, but to feel strong and capable again.

What are some of your hobbies?

I love being active outdoors—cycling, running, skiing, and now getting into triathlon training. I also enjoy spending time with my family and staying engaged in anything that challenges me physically and mentally.

What keeps you coming to PUSH?

Honestly, it’s the people and the support. My journey hasn’t been linear: I had a tibial plateau fracture in March 2024, and Marty was instrumental in helping me rehab and stay engaged. Then, in June 2025, I was hit by a car while cycling and had to start over again, working with Katie Elwood in PT for a neck ligament injury. Through all of that, PUSH never felt like just a gym; it felt like a team that was invested in helping me get back on my feet.

What are the biggest physical and mental benefits you get from PUSH?

Physically, I’ve rebuilt strength, stability, and endurance in a way that feels sustainable. I’m now training for the Boulder Triathlon this June with coach Bill Ludington, which is something I wouldn’t have imagined a couple of years ago.

Mentally, PUSH has helped me build resilience. Coming back from multiple injuries could have easily derailed me, but having a consistent place and supportive community made all the difference. It’s given me confidence—not just in my fitness, but in my ability to bounce back from setbacks.
